I asked one of my sponsors why he got married and he looked at me strangely and said, “Because I love my wife and I wanted to have a family.” In response I said, “You don’t need to get married to do that.” Someone else said, “It would be awkward to just introduce someone as your boyfriend or girlfriend for the rest of your life.” He says he doesn’t get any tax benefits so basically people get married because it is socially acceptable to do so.
